Tall, biennial plant, in the first year it develops a large tuft of leaves, in the second year it sends out a sturdy stalk 3-5 feet (1-1.7 meter) high bearing numerous bell-shaped, pendant flowers at the top. What a glorious long lasting look! Reseeds readily, suitable for a naturalized, woodland effect due to its best growth in moist acid soils and shade. Consider planting two years in a row for continuous yearly bloom. Zones 4-9.
