Turnip Seed

Turnips are relatively easy to grow, given good conditions. Soil should be loose, fertile, and kept evenly moist. Direct sow in early spring through late summer 1/4 inch deep in rows 12-18 inches apart. Thin to 2 to 6 inches apart, depending on how large you plan to grow the roots, 1-2 inches apart if you are growing only for the greens. For best germination soil should be cool to warm (50-80F), and kept moist. Successive plantings will yield a continuous crop.
