Chickpea or Garbanzo Seed

Chickpeas are a legume. These are of the Kabuli type, and are similar to many other legumes in preferring a cool season. Plant in spring after frost and when soil begins to warm, 1/2 to 1 inch deep spaced 3 inches apart in rows 12-24 inches apart. For dry use, harvest once the plants begin to yellow. Chickpeas are one of the oldest known cultivated crops, and certainly have one of the highest concentrations of nutrients.
