Fava Bean Seed

Fava beans are being quickly discovered by North Americans for their flavor and health benefits. All of Bavicchi's fava beans are pure strains carefully grown in the Mediterranean region. Plant seed 1 inch deep in rows 18-36 inches apart. Favas are a large bushy plant, which can be grown as two rows close together so they will give each other support. Plant in spring similar to peas, as favas also prefer cool weather. In some areas, they are grown twice a year, as a spring/early summer and fall crop, and in very warm climates are grown as a winter crop. SPECIAL CAUTION: Untreated bean seed is particularly susceptible to failure if planted in soil that is too cool or wet.
